Horizon Europe is the EU’s funding framework programme for research and innovation over the period 2021-2027. It succeed to the framework programme Horizon 2020 (H2020) that ended in 2020. It has a budget of € 93.5 billion and is managed by the European Commission General Directorate Research and Innovation (DG Research).
It tackles climate change, helps to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and boosts the EU’s competitiveness and growth. The programme facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation in developing, supporting and implementing EU policies while tackling global challenges. It supports the creation and better diffusion of excellent knowledge and technologies.
Horizon Europe activities are carried out through open and competitive calls for proposals. Legal entities from the EU and associated countries can participate.
