The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission is seeking universities and higher education institutions (HEIs) to co-design, co-host and co-supervise PhD projects as part of its Collaborative Doctoral Partnership Programme.
PhD candidates will divide their time between their home university and the JRC, working on one of 25 research topics, including data-driven innovation, climate science, and behavioral science. Among these, three topics are directly focused on water research (25-12, 25-14, and 25-15), while five others can be applied to the water sector (25-02, 25-05, 25-10, 25-23, and 25-25).
Who can apply?
The call is open to HEIs and universities that:
- Originate from an EU Member State or country associated to the EU Research Framework Programme in force (Horizon Europe).
- Are entitled to award doctoral degrees and have administrative autonomy including signing agreements with external partners.
Non-HEI institutions may also apply if they have an agreement with an eligible university. If selected, the JRC will sign the CDP Agreement with both institutions.
This program offers universities a unique opportunity to collaborate with the JRC and train the next generation of researchers at the science-policy interface.
